Balance

by Tim Connor

In an environment of:

constant accelerating change,

corporate unrest,

increased competition,

higher expectations for performance,

increased influence of technology,

the drive for increased results,

reduction in management level employees,

numerous other challenges and circumstances,

It is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain any sense of career and life balance. It is also critical, to be effective in our career, we need to:

manage the stressors in our life.

have time to play and relax.

spend time with loved ones and friends.

get adequate rest and exercise.

have time to spend in personal development.

Being out of balance has numerous personal, health, career and relationship consequences. The cause of being out of balance for many is:

the drive for more income.

the desire for better life style.

the need for fulfillment.

a lack of clear goals and focus.

the inability to say no.

I guarantee that you know if you are out of balance. No one has to tell you that it is in your best interests to reduce or eliminate from your life the increased anxiety, stress, sense of longing and feeling that your life is out of control.

Please keep one thought in mind. Yes, it is important to work, to try, and to sell – as well as doing the many other activities that will one day contribute to overall success and personal freedom. However, it is also important to have fun, spend time with loved ones and enjoy life. To sell successfully requires that you are relaxed, confident, feeling good about yourself and your life, being in love with what you do and having the knowledge of why you are doing it. It isn't necessary to sacrifice one area of life to find peace, harmony, happiness and balance. It is only necessary to know what we really want and to ensure that we are aware of, and willing to pay the price for, the trade-offs.
